Strengthening EU\u2013Mongolia cooperation on green and sustainable investment<\/p>\n
Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Dorjkhand T. participated in the EU\u2013Mongolia Investors\u2019 Round Table held in Brussels, which brought together policymakers, financial institutions, and investors to discuss opportunities for expanding European investment in Mongolia and supporting the country\u2019s energy transition under the EU\u2019s Global Gateway initiative.<\/p>\n
During the discussions, the Mongolian side highlighted the country\u2019s significant renewable energy potential and the Government\u2019s commitment to advancing energy sector reform, one of the key priorities of the newly formed Government. The roundtable focused on mobilizing sustainable investment, strengthening cooperation with European partners, and developing bankable renewable energy and infrastructure projects in Mongolia.<\/p>\n
Deputy Prime Minister Dorjkhand T. also noted that during the first Mongolia\u2013European Union Investment and Business Forum held in Ulaanbaatar last year, the European Investment Bank signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Mongolia to provide up to \u20ac1 billion in financing to support Mongolia\u2019s green transition. In this context, Mongolia is working closely with European partners to engage European companies in renewable energy projects and the development of modern energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n
On the sidelines of the event, Deputy Prime Minister Dorjkhand T. held meetings with Peter De Roover, Speaker of the Belgian Federal Parliament\u2019s Chamber of Representatives, and Jozef S\u00edkela, European Commissioner for International Partnerships. The meetings focused on strengthening Mongolia\u2019s cooperation with Belgium and the European Union in areas such as trade, investment, renewable energy, rare earth elements, tourism, and digital connectivity.<\/p>\n
The discussions also highlighted opportunities to enhance Mongolia\u2019s energy security, including potential cooperation on advanced battery storage technologies and closer engagement with European companies.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by Mr. Bold L., Ambassador of Mongolia to the Kingdom of Belgium, and Ina Mar\u010diulionyt\u0117, Ambassador of the European Union to Mongolia.<\/p>\n
