The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Investment and Trade Agency (ITA) jointly organized a discussion on “Legal Reforms of Investment and Opportunities.” The event featured presentations on the amendments to the Law on Economic Freedom, the Law on Investment, and the Law on Permits and Notifications, which entered into force on August 31, 2026.
Representatives from foreign embassies in Mongolia, business associations, domestic and foreign investors, law firms, and research organizations attended the event to receive information on the updates to Mongolia’s investment environment and exchange views.
Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia T. Dorjkhand, in his opening remarks, said that adopting amendments to the Investment Law marked a major reform of Mongolia’s investment and business environment, creating more favorable conditions for both domestic and foreign investors.
He highlighted several key measures, including 100% customs tariff exemptions for investments in green and renewable energy, particularly data centers, and the extension of tax incentives on income derived from the sale of bonds, shares and other securities. He also noted that investors now have the right to have their complaints resolved within 30 days and to settle disputes through international arbitration.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the validity period of investment stability certificates had been extended to up to 20 years, adding, “The adoption of the law is only the beginning; the real test lies in its implementation.”
